Botox, or Botulinum Toxin Type A, is a neurotoxin that temporarily blocks nerve signals in the muscles where it's injected. This relaxes the muscles and reduces the appearance of wrinkles and lines caused by repetitive facial movements. Commonly treated areas include forehead lines, crow's feet, and frown lines between the eyebrows.
Botox works by targeting the underlying cause of dynamic wrinkles—the repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, and raising eyebrows. By blocking nerve signals to the muscles, Botox prevents them from contracting, softening the appearance of wrinkles and lines. This gives the face a smoother, more youthful appearance.
