Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) Surgery in Bradenton, FL

Sometimes no matter how much you eat right and stay in the gym, those sit-ups won't give you the taut tummy you want.  If you've got too much excess skin in your abdominal area that doesn't respond to diet or exercise, you may be considering a "tummy tuck," technically knows as "abdominoplasty."

This surgical procedure flattens the abdominal area by removing excess fat and skin, and tightening the muscles in your abdominal wall.   A Tummy Tuck should not be confused with liposuction, although you may choose to get liposuction along with your Abdominoplasty.  Be aware that this is a major surgery, and there are many things to consider. You can trust that  Dr. Royce will guide you through every step in this process, starting with a consultation.

Board-certified Dr. Jacqueline Royce DO of Royce Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery PA offers extensive experience in tightening abdominal muscles that have been weakened or separated. We are able to restore a firmer, smoother, and more appealing abdomen.

Am I a Candidate for a Tummy Tuck?

Tummy tucks are often used after weight loss or pregnancy but can also be used for people with loose skin and stubborn fat in the abdominal region.

During your free consultation, your abdomen will be examined, and Dr. Royce will determine if a tummy tuck is the best option for you.

Who Are the Best Candidates For a Tummy Tuck?

  • A tummy tuck is suitable for both men and women who are in good health.

  • Women who have experienced several pregnancies may find this procedure useful for tightening their abdominal muscles and reducing the amount of excess skin.

  • Men or women who were once obese and still have excess fat deposits or loose skin around the belly find Abdominoplasty to be a great option to resolve these issues.

Who Should Not Consider a Tummy Tuck?

  • If you're a woman who plans to get pregnant, then you may want to postpone a tummy tuck until you're done having children because during surgery, your vertical muscles are tightened, and any future pregnancies can cause those muscles to separate.

  • Are you in the process of or are you planning to lose a large amount of weight? If so, this surgery is not the best option for you at this time as a tummy tuck should be a last resort after you've tried everything else. It should not be used as an alternative to weight loss or spot reduction in your abdominal area.

  • Worth considering is the unavoidable appearance of scars after a tummy tuck. You can talk about scar placement and length with Dr. Royce during your consultation to understand what is ahead of you with this procedure.

What Are My Options?

  • Mini tummy tuck – Also called a "partial tummy tuck" addresses excess skin and fat below the belly button. You will have an incision from hip to hip that will be concealed in your bikini line.
  • Full tummy tuck – Or a "complete tummy tuck" addresses excess skin above and below the belly button, and also tightens abdominal muscles. You will have an incision around the belly button and a hip-to-hip incision that can be concealed in your bikini line.
